Detail: Built in 1884, casual meets elegant at our restaurant: Inside - a large room of light and warmth, brass chandeliers and wall sconces, strawberry-patterned wallpaper, comfortable Queen Anne chairs, inviting tables separated into intimate areas by planters, low jazz and blues, a diverse wine list, single malts, local beers, and the best and largest martinis in town. Outside: four large window embrasures look onto magnolia trees sprinkled with tiny lights, a green sweep of lawn and an 1800's red clapboard building beyond. We are known for our classic Indian pudding and flourless chocolate torte (both requested by Gourmet), fresh fish, and tender meats such as the bacon wrapped filet mignon. Our comfort food soups are made from scratch, and diners look for our quality rack of lamb and the huge succulent sea scallops. As we always use the freshest, most local produce, menus change with the seasons. Food is the star here from the freshly baked rolls to the locally roasted aromatic coffee.
