Detail: "The Fray is one of today's most popular groups," State Fair Director Dan O'Hara said. "Their music is at the top of the charts, their songs are all over television, and they appeal to a wide range of different people. That makes them a perfect choice to round out the New York State Fair's grandstand lineup for 2009."
The Fray, a piano-led rock band, burst onto the popular music scene in 2005 with its debut album, "How to Save a Life" which sold more than 2 million copies. The album's title song hit the top of the popular music charts in the United States, Great Britain, Canada, Australia, Ireland and Sweden. It was used on the hit TV shows "Grey's Anatomy," "Scrubs," "One Tree Hill," and "Cold Case," and became the promotional song for "Grey's Anatomy" in 2007.
A more recent hit, "You Found Me," reached No. 1 on Billboard Magazine's Top 40 list for adult pop music and was used to promote the fifth season of the hit TV show "Lost." Other familiar songs by The Fray include "Over My Head," "Look After You," "Never Say Never," and "Where the Story Ends."
